Robert Grey
Robert Grey is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University, B.A. 1987 and St. John’s University School of Law, J.D. 1990. He is presently the managing partner of Grey & Grey, L.L.P., which represents workers in the areas of workers’ compensation, Social Security Disability, personal injury, Long Term Disability, and other matters involving injury and disability. The firm has offices throughout the metropolitan area.

In 2023, Robert was named the Vice Chair of the Mt. Sinai – Irving J. Selikoff Center for Occupational and Environmental Medicine Advisory Board, where he had previously served for over a decade as the Labor Outreach Chair. In 2021, he was appointed as President of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Memorial Scholarship, which provides academic scholarships to the children of workers who were killed or permanently disabled on the job. Robert has also served as a Director of the Injured Workers Bar Association since 2019 and as the Treasurer of the New York Committee for Occupational Safety and Health (NYCOSH) since 2006.
Robert previously served as the Chair of the New York Workers’ Compensation Alliance from 2010 until the end of 2018 and as a technical advisor to the New York State September 11th Worker Protection Task Force from 2011 through 2016. In 2014 he was the Speaker of the Assembly’s appointee to the New York State Business Regulation Council, from 2011 to 2012 he was a member of the New York State Workers’ Compensation Board’s Advisory Committee, and in 2010 he was named to the New York State Insurance Department Advisory Committee to the Workers’ Compensation Reform Task Force. Robert also taught classes as an adjunct professor at the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations in 2008.
Robert’s honors and awards include being twice named as the Mount Sinai-Selikoff Advisory Board Man of the Year (2006, 2022), the Clara Lemlich honoree of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Memorial (2017), and the honoree of the Transport Workers Union Local 100 Widows & Orphans Fund (2008).

Robert has written hundreds of articles and scholarly papers that have been published in a wide range of publications including the New York Times, the New York Daily News, the New York Post, the New York Law Journal, the Journal of the Suffolk Academy of Law, the Syracuse Law Review, the Cardozo Journal of Equal Rights and Social Justice, and the Albany Law Review, which published his treatise on The Rise And Fall of Workers’ Compensation in New York State in the summer of 2023.

Robert has represented thousands of clients before the Workers’ Compensation Board, tried cases in State and Federal Court, and prosecuted appeals in State and Federal courts including the New York State Court of Appeals where he has won landmark decisions involving construction accidents, permanent disability, and administrative law issues. He has also been involved in drafting many pieces of legislation including Article 8-A of the Workers’ Compensation Law which provides benefits for World Trade Center rescue, recovery and clean-up workers.
Robert has presented continuing education programs from the New York State Bar Association, the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, and many county bar associations and is also a frequent lecturer for many local unions and community groups.
